NYBL RINKS CHAMPIONS !!

Great afternoon today at the Jack Hatfield's Bowls Club for the Finals of the various NYBL knockout competitions.

Nunthorpe had four brave chaps in the final, and they were up against the "home" team, Jack Hatfield.

Nunthorpe got off to a flyer and were 10-1 up after 9 ends, but Jack Hatfield fought back, and after a couple of disasters on ends 14 and 15, the scores were 13 all, with 3 ends to go.

Nunthorpe scored a 3, then JH scored a single, so into the last end with Nunthorpe leading by 2.

Some great woods clustered near the jack, and despite JH best efforts, Nunthorpe were still 2 up and Don had the last wood in his hand. Needless to say, he didn't bowl it, hands were shaken and Nunthorpe won for the second year on the bounce.

Les Russell had played in some of the earlier rounds, but the team today was No 1 Ken Hudson, No 2 Alan Stonehouse, No 3 Alan Sanderson and Skip, Don Richards.
